Running for time or distance?

This is a very good question, I ask myself this all the time. Should I run for time or distance? If I want to run fast I run for time, but if I want to create endurance I run for distance. Another important factor is time. I work 40hrs a week so I don’t get much time in to run distance runs so running faster for a shorter distance works better for me. I do one long run on Sunday 3-5 miles and shorter faster runs Tuesday and Thursday. I’m in my 40’s and I enjoy running, but there isn’t a right or wrong answer just do what works best for you.
